Brothers,
A recent transfer into our council, Bill McHugh, Jr, reached out to me and asked if his son, Lionel, can attend the Business meeting on Monday. Lionel is considering joining the Knights.
Below are the KofC guidelines I found on allowing non members to attend council meetings.
-
Routine Meetings:
Knights of Columbus meetings are generally for members only, as the Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization with specific purposes and activities.
-
Special Occasions:
Non-members may be invited to attend meetings for specific events like awards ceremonies, presentations, or to see donations accepted.
-
Guest Invitations:
Grand Knights can invite guests to attend council meetings, but this is generally only done with the approval of the membership and for specific purposes.
-
Invitation Requirements:
When inviting guests, the Grand Knight should obtain approval from the membership first and invitations should be sent in writing well in advance.
-
Contentious Items:
Guests should not be invited to meetings when contentious items are on the agenda, according to Knights of Columbus guidelines.
-
Open Meetings:Open meetings with guests should be the exception, not the rule, states the Knights of Columbus.
Do any brothers have an issue if Lionel attends our meeting on Monday?
I’m fine with it. Ia this a young child, an older potential candidate? Either way, I’m fine with it.
Thanks.
