The following motion was brought up in February at the Council meeting. It was submitted to the Trustees and they request the the membership vote to approve the motion at the March council meeting. To learn more about VKCCI, please visit their website https://vkcci.org.
Whereas the Joseph M. Johnson Knights of Columbus council (#7538) has budgeted $100 in the current year budget (line E-10; account 60058) for the VKCCI program, and
Whereas the VKCCI need has been growing annually, and
Whereas VKCCI has awarded the following grants in the past year:
— 25-013 – A $2,646.75 grant would assist a retired priest find a suitable apartment. The new
landlord raised the rent and refuses to make repairs until the rent is current. Grant would pay
the overdue rent so the priest can move out into a new apartment.
— 25-015 – A $1,500.00 grant would assist a single mother and her newborn baby. The father is
not financially responsible. The grant would allow her to stay at home with the baby for two
months until she can return to work.
— 25-031 – A $ 4,767.23 grant to assist a Brother Knight and his family of four. He was laid off
from his job as a software developer and is now working as an UBER driver. He has run
through his savings and needs help with his mortgage, and
Whereas the council wishes to support the work of VKCCI and assist other Virginian brother Knights in need,
Be it resolved, the council approves an additional $500 to be donated (for a total donation of $600) to the VKCCI program.
